Louis 16 maintained an extravagant court and his wife also was so wealthy.

He spend a lot of money for his palace and for his comfort.

He utilised a lot of money in unwanted wars.

Taxation policy:

The exemption of 1 and 2 estates from paying taxes. And the burden of paying taxes were only for the third estate.

So the people in the 3 estate were very very angry with his monarchy.

Subsistence crisis:

It is a situation in which the basic needs of the life of the people were endangered.

The population rose from 23 million to 28 million.

And the price of bread rose rapidly.

Role of philosopher:

The philosophers created an awareness about the bad monarch of Louis

16 by publishing pamphlets.

They told all about the Louis and his wife's luxurious life and the taxation system.

No right for women to vote:

In France in that time women had no right. Only after the freedom of France women got their right to vote.

National Assembly:

When the people gathered for the national assembly the king made a huge restriction that the 3rd estate peopled should not enter the national assembly.
