Question -2)

The cell is the smallest fundamental unit of living organisms. Like wise in our body, brain is the chief which controls all the life processes taking place inside our body, the cell also have a control centre known as \large{\rm{\red{Nucleus}}}. The nucleus controls all the metabolic processes taking place in the cell.

The Nucleus also have the Genes that are the hereditary characters in the chromosomes. The Nucleolus inside the nucleus also helps in the RNA synthesis. The nucleus controls all the activities like the synthesis of nutrients, cellular digestion, excretion, metabolism etc. which takes place inside the cell. Thus, the Nucleus is the \large{\rm{\green{director}}} of the cell and the key to the life in cell.

Question-3)

Yes, it's true that the cells have specific life span or they worn out after sometime. The cell have many organelles which can worn out after some time. The cell needs to get rid of it. This is done by the help of \large{\rm{\red{lysosomes}}} which contains enzymes that digest it down. The cells have a fixed lifespan, they die after some time. Then, the new cells are formed from the pre existing cells. That is according to the extended cell theory proposed by Rufolf Virchow. Here are examples of lifespan of cells:

  • Red blood cells or erthyrocytes helps in carrying oxygen all around the body. The red blood cells can live upto 120 days or 4 months. After that they worn out and new RBCs are produced in bone marrow.
  • White blood cells or leukocytes helps in fighting germs and these can live upto 1 year or little less than that.
  • Platelets or Thrombocytes helps in the blood clotting and can live upto 1 week or 10 days.

Question-4)

The cells perform various \large{\green{\rm{metabolic \:processes}}} like digestion, respiration etc. and also produce waste products. This waste products maybe harmful to the cells ,hence they are needed to excrete. Like wise, our body excretes several nitrogenous waste like urine etc. The cells also excretes substances like Co2, undigested food etc. Let's see an example:

  • Amoeba is a unicellular organism which obtains it food from other smaller organisms and traps with the help of pseudopodia (false feet). The ingested food is stored in food vacuole and digested with the helps of enzymes in lysosomes. Then the undigested food are excreted from the body of amoeba.

Question-5)

Cells need energy for performing various metabolic processes and this energy is obtained from oxidation of food. The cellular respiration takes place which oxides the food to produce \large{\rm{\red{Co2\: and \:ATP}}}. The ATP is the energy currency of cell. Thus, we can say that cells need food to obtain energy which helps it to perform the important life processes. Other than that, the cells also obtain important nutrients like carbohydrates and proteins from proteins.
