Socialisation is a gradual cycle in which we think about social norms and the way individuals interact. Almost all the habits which we consider as 'human existence' are primarily taught through socialization. During socialisation, we learn how to talk, walk, feed ourselves, how to conform with behavioral standards and so much more.

Explanation:

  • There is no better way to begin than thinking about the role of the family (home) in our social growth, since family is usually seen as being the main socializing agent. As infants , we depend entirely on others to survive. It's up to our parents or others who assume the role of parent to teach us to work and look after ourselves. They teach us about close relations, community life as well as how to share resources.
  • In personality development, family plays the most important role. Furthermore, they give us our first set of beliefs, norms and values -a structure that typically represents its own ethnic, religion, social status, and more. The family  usually has informal control over its other members.
  • It teaches the younger generation to assume appropriately the roles of adults. Since the family is a dominant and private group, it uses informal social control methods to evaluate its members' inappropriate behaviour. The parents use both punishment and reward e to imbue what is needed from a child socially.
