1.Housework is invisible in the sense that it does not contain productive value and it is not adding up to the Gross Domestic Product of the country. For example, cooking, washing utensils etc. are household work for which no payment is made.Such works are not recognised as work and it is assumed that women are born to do such works.

2.Housework is physically demanding implies that certain works which women do require physical strength. For example,in some urban and rural areas, women are required to fetch water.It is seen that in rural areas, women carry loads of firewood on their heads. Similarly. the domestic chores like washing clothes, cleaning and sweeping requires lot of bending. Cooking also needs  standing for long hours in front of the hot stoves.

3.Housework is time consuming. It takes a lot of time to complete the domestic chores.Some women work outside the house as well.They do both the domestic work and professional work which indicates that they work more than men.Most of the time women has to spend doing work.

Household work takes up a lot of time of women. It hence leaves them with very less time for leisure. Cleaning the house, attending to children etc are non-stop tasks.
