When we take a cube of side 1 cm the volume that the shape could hold is 1 cm3 which is equal to 1ml. And we know that 1 Litre is equal to 1000 ml.

Liter (litre in SI spelling) is a metric volume unit and equals to 1000 cubic centimeters (1 cm3 = 1 mL) and 61 cubic inches. 1 liter of water has a mass about 1 kilogram.
