there are two types of bonding ionic and covolant
ionic let's say NaCl
it is generally not called as NaCl
it is written as na+cl-
because:
na=sodium has the configuration

and cl has the configuration 287
sodium gives it's electron to cl to make itself stable
and form na+ ion.
it gives that electron to cl
making it cl- ion
