The on behalf of feature in Business settings allows agencies and Facebook Marketing Partners to specify which accounts they use on behalf of other businesses, ensuring that they can access the appropriate product features. Using this feature doesn't change the permissions that you've set on the ad account. The business that you're advertising on behalf of can't see the ad account unless you explicitly grant them permission to it in your Business Settings.

The on behalf of feature gives you:

Streamlined Terms of Service: You only have to accept the Custom Audience terms and Business Tools Terms once for ad accounts that advertise on behalf of the same business. If you don't identify the business that you're advertising for, you have to accept these terms every time you use an ad account, even if you're advertising for the same business.

Access to features: Get access to the same Audience Manager features as the business that you're advertising for, such as the audience overlap tool, the ability to see Custom Audience sizes and potentially other features in the future.

Clearer ad transparency: If you advertise on behalf of another business, that business appears in the 'Why am I seeing this ad?' option on Facebook. If you don't designate the business that you're advertising for, your Business Manager name may appear in the 'Why am I seeing this ad?' option.
