Answer: Amoeba takes in food using temporary finger-like extensions of the cell surface which fuse over the foodparticle forming a food-vacuole as shown in figure. Inside the food vacuole, complex substances are broken down into simpler ones which then diffuse into the cytoplasm.

Amoeba obtains it's food by the process of endocytosis. It engulfs the food particles with the help of pseudopodia and then form a vacule around it. When the particle is completely trapped amoeba secretes digestive enzymes that digest the food.
