the internal problems of Maratha and the growing ambitions of Britishers led to conflict b/w them during the period of 1775to 1818 during the third Anglo -maratha war ( 1817-18) peshwa baji rao 2 did not like his subordinate position under the Britishers. he tried to unify all Maratha chiefs against the Britishers but failed. he surrendered. the Britishers abolished the position of peshwa
and Maratha were limited to the kingdom of satara. this was the end of the mighty Maratha power
