The Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India, drafted by a committee headed by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, on 26 November 1949.India became a sovereign democraticrepublic after its constitution came into effect on 26 January 1950.

India is a country with a very large population and have different types of religions and castes earlier Indians belonging from lower castes were discriminated by other castes and religions. so to provide them equality and to give respect to their dignity the Indian leaders declared India as a democratic country.
