Magnet contains two poles one South and the other is North When LIKE poles come together( i.e North North or South South ) then repulsion ocuur between them When UNLIKE poles come together or near each other (i.e North South) then attraction occurs

The attraction occur in two poles of magnet is due to magnetic field around the magnet. Attraction between two unlike poles i.e, north pole of magnet attracts south pole of magnet and south pole of magnet attracts north pole of magnet.
