absorption of water through roots will push the water up through the vascular bundle and then up to the leaves excess water escapes through stomata in the form water calles transpiration
now, as water is absorped through through roots water escapes through leaves because a single water drop will get inside the root only if it get its place and it will inly get its place if a water drop eacapes through the leaf creating gap in tge vascular bundle is then filled by another drop of water through roots
if traspiration stops water drops will not escape thus no gaps being created for the roots suction of withdrawing water from soil
