Clouds form when the invisible water vapour in the air condenses into visible water droplets or ice crystals. There is water around us all the time in the form of tiny gas particles, also known as water vapour. There are also tiny particles floating around in the air - such as salt and dust - these are called aerosols.

Duringday time, on being heated, a large amountof water evaporates from various water bodies and goes into the air.A part of this water vapour also reaches the atmosphere throughbiological activities such as transpiration and respiration. Thiscauses the air in the atmosphere to heat up. When this heated airrises, it expands and cools, which results in the condensation ofwater vapour forming water droplets. The presence of dust and othersuspended particles in air also facilitates the process ofcondensation. The formation of water droplets leads to the formationof clouds.
