Due to this tilting of earth , either of the pole come closer to sun than the other. When north pole is closer to sun then the portion of earth above th equator( northern hemisphere) gets more heat from sun than the latter hemisphere (southern hemisphere).

Same happens when south pole tilts to sun.

That hemisphere which is closer to sun, will receive longer duration of sun light.
