Hey friend!

Here is your answer;

Evolutionary pattern and processes are deeply affected by mutation and natural selection.

Let us take an example of a panda species which lives in a certain region isolated from the rest of the species of the panda. When pandas mate, they produce their progeny (F1 generation) . Due to some possibilities of DNA replication error, the progenies get mutated which result into variations. One panda baby becomes tall, the other panda baby fat, one as too strong and so on.... The pandas have a large amount of progeny but what nature always does is it reduces the number of species through natural selection. In simple words, the panda babies have to pass now through a series of tests. The tests include- environment change, loss of food, predator attack or even fight between the same species. The pandas which can only adapt to the environment and changes would survive. Due to such tests collectively called as natural selection, few baby pandas only survive with their genes and pass their genes to their progeny which remain consistent. This way natural selection and mutation affects evolution.
