Since the primary source of infrared radiation is heat or thermal radiation, any object which has a temperature radiates in the infrared. Even objects that we think of as being very cold, such as an ice cube, emit infrared.
Infrared waves are called heat waves because they cause entire atoms and molecules to vibrate when they encounter an object. The vibration of the atoms and molecules increases the internal energy and temperature of the object.
uses:-Most warm objects in our everyday experiences emit infrared, and half of the energy produced by the Sun is also infrared. We use infrared radiation in many ways, including thermal imaging cameras, remote controls, fiber optic cables, infrared astronomy, and meteorology.
