Manures are organic substances. They provide humus to soil. They do not cause pollution. But fertilisers are synthetic chemical compounds. They do not provide humus. They cause water and soil pollution.

Manures are advantageous than fertilizers because of the following reasons:

It improves soil texture

It improves water retaining capacity of soil

Since manure is not nutrient specific so it replenishes all the nutrients of soil

It increases the number of useful micro-organisms in soil

It does not cause water pollution It does not change the chemical nature of soil so it does not harm the fertility of soil.

But all these are not present in fertilizers
The use of fertilizers led to reduction of fertility of soil.
These chemical get into water through leaching and harm the aquatic animals and those who drink that water....
