on the basis of rractivity we can group the metaks into 3 following categories:
i) metals of low reactivity
ii) metals of medium reactivity
iii) metals of high reactivity
•metals of low reactivity are very unreactive. the oxides of these metals can be reduced to metals by heating alone.
•metals of medium reactivity are miderately reactive. these are usually present as sulphides or carbonates. the sulphide ores are converted into oxides by heating strongly in the presence of excess air. this process is know as roasting. the carbonates ores are changed into oxides by heating strongly in limited air. this process is know as calcination.
•metals of high reactivity are very reactive.these metals are obtained by the electrolysis process.
