As water, flows over mountains, Hills and Plains, it carries soil and piece of rock with it. These rock pieces sink at the bottom of the rivers, lakes or seas in layers called sediments. More and more layer get added and the lower layer get pushed down and stick to each other by the pressure of the load above. Eventually, sedimentary rocks are formed. Due to the order in which the layers of rocks are formed, the deepest layer usually is of the old rocks. Sedimentary rocks are also formed from the remains of plants and animals which collect at the bottom of the water body. That is why minerals are formed in sedimentary rocks.
