Salerio and Salerio are very important characters in the play(Merchant of Venice).
They are christians who had a great domination over jews at that time.It is seen when Salerio comments on Shylock saying that he(salerio) even knows the tailor who made the dress in which she flew away.On hearing this Shylock could do nothing but only listen to it

Minor characters such as Salerio and Salenio are designed to reflect Venetian society at large as Shakespeare want to show the reader that Shylock's cruelty as well as Antonio's friendship is famous all over Venice which he shows in different scenes.
