A legal duty is what you are required to do because it is spelled out in the books. For instance, if asked, you shall serve on jury duty. That is the Law. Other day-to-day examples might be fastening seat belt while driving or not parking in the designated spot for the handicap unless you have a plaqard or handicap license plate.

When something is legally required usually there are no exceptions or excuses.

On the other hand, moral duty is what is the right thing to do even if you are not required by Law. For instance, if you see someone in distress, then calling 911 to get them help is your moral obligation.

Generally speaking, never confuse what is moral with what is legal. Here is an example: rich folks and big corporations not paying proportionately as much in taxes as the middle class is NOT MORAL but it is definitely LEGAL—thanks to the loopholes.
