i) In the atmosphere there are so many pollutants are there. In such pollutants the term NO_{x} denotes the major pollutants such as NO (nitric oxide) and NO_{2} (nitrogen dioxide) in the atmosphere.

ii) The NO and NO_{2} are responsible for smog formation, acid rains and which affects the troposphere region in the atmosphere

iii) These gases are produced from the reaction of nitrogen and oxygen during combustion of hydrocarbons in air at very high temperatures.

iv) NO_{x} produced naturally during lightning

v) The motor vehicles used in the large cities are the major source of air pollutants
