Northern plains are divided into 4 different regions on the basis of variation in relief. They are:-
1. Bhabar
2. Terai
3. Bhangar
4. Khadar
Bhangar is the largest part of the Northern Plain. It is composed of old alluvium and forms a terrace-like structure. It contains calcareous, rocky deposits called Kankar.
