Oxygen and carbon dioxide is transported in our body by the blood cell after diffusion of oxygen in the blood cells, it further takes oxygen to surrounding cells. To maximise the surface area our bronchus in lungs is divided into fine branched bronchioles which contains alveoli and has rich network of capillaries which help in exchange of gases. Our body contains millions of alveoli which increases area for exchange.
