salts are the by product of neutralization reaction i.e the reaction of acids with base
eg:- NaOH + HCl = NaCl + H2O

There are 3 different types of salts

Acidic Salt; Basic Salt; Neutral Salt. In the reaction NaOH + HCl = NaCl + H2O, NaCl is a neutral salt.
In the case where acid is stronger than the Base, the salt formed is acidic.
When Base is stronger than the acid, salt formed is Basic. When acid and base are equal, the salt is neutral.
