Answer:

Mitosis is a type of cell division that results in the formation of two daughter cells with the same number of chromosomes as the parent cells. These daughter cells are called as diploids. Eg - it takes place in the body cells of human beings.

Meiosis is a type of cell division that results in the formation of four daughter cells with the half the number of chromosomes as the parent cells. These daughter cells are called haploids. Eg - it takes place in the gametes og human beings

Mitosis: The cells produced by one mitotic division are two diploid daughter cells, each of them possesses 2n chromosomes or the same number of chromosomes as in the parent cell. Mitosis takes place readily in somatic (body) cells of animals and meristematic tissue cells in plants.

Meiosis: The cells produced by a complete meiotic division are four haploid cells, each of them possesses n chromosomes or exactly half the number of chromosomes in the original cell. Meisosis takes place in the germinative cells in the testes in males and ovaries in females.
