The central nervous system isprotected in many ways. First of all the brain sits inside the skull and the spinal cord is surrounded by a series of vertebrae. Inside these bony structures lie a series of layers of tissue referred to as meninges.

Heya,

Protection of Central Nervous system.

* Brain lies inside a bony box, called cranium while the spinal cord lies within the vertebral column or backbone, such bony structures protect them from mechanical injury and shock.

* Besides them, the additional protective covering called meninges are also present.

* Cerebrospinal fluid present in the brain and spinal cord serves as a pad to cusion the central nervous system from shock.

Hope this helps....:)
