Grand Canyon is one of the world wonders which is naturally formed. It is located in Arizona, North America. A canyon or gorge is a deep divide or split between cliffs (mountains) resulting from weathering activity of a river over time. The Grand Canyon is a wonder on its own, formed by weathering of the surrounding cliffs and mountains by the Colorado river. The canyon was developed in 17 million years.

The specific geologic processes and timing that formed the Grand Canyon spark lively debates by geologists. The general scientific consensus, updated at a 2010 conference, holds that the Colorado River carved the Grand Canyon beginning 5 million to 6 million years ago.
