- in the solid state the molecules are tightly bounded to one another with maximum intermolecular force between them and least thermal energy.
- in the liquid state the molecules are less tightly packed as compared to solids and could move and has less intermolecular force of attraction than solids but more thermal energy as compared to solids.
- in the gaseous state the molecules are very far away from one another and possess random motion and has the least intermolecular force of attraction and the highest thermal energy.
