Importance of Northern Plains :
- With their fertile alluvial soils, flat surface, slow moving perennial rivers and favourable climate, the Great plains of North India are of great economic and social significance. The fertile soil and assured water resources have made these plains a rich agricultural land . Importance of Himalaya: They from a natural wall along the northern borders, which is difficult to cross. They also protect us from cold winds coming from the north. The rivers originating from the Himalayas carry fertile soil from the mountains to the plains.
- The Indian coastal plains are very fertile. Major food crops like rice and cash crops like coconut are grown in these areas. Some of the coastal plains are rich in mineral oil. Fishing is the major occupation for the people living in the coastal areas.
