The different parts of the plants are adapted to their habitat. The trees growing in hilly areas have needle-shaped leaf blades because it rains heavily in these regions and the needle-shaped leaves help the rainwater and snow to slide off easily.
The plants growing in lower levels of the tropical rain forest have broad leaf blades. The trees grow very tall in tropical rain forest. Very little sunlight falls on the ground of the forest. So, plants that grow near the ground have broad leaf blades to capture as much sunlight as possible.
