Maize have shallow roots and because of that,they are susceptible to droughts..........................

They are Adventitious roots not developed from the radicle of the embryo but from other parts of the plant body from branches in banyan and developed from main stem lower nodes in maize .

These roots are modified roots giving additional support to the organ they found. They are partly aerial not partly underground not like tap root or fibrous roots which are totally underground.
