The sources of Medieval Indian History can be broadly categorized into primary and secondary sources. The former sources are contemporary records of the periods under study ( the original sources or evidence) and the latter are historical texts based on the primary sources.

Examples of primary sources are as follows: Artefacts, documents, diary, autobiography, etc.

Scholars have realized that the arrival of Islam and its introduction to the people of India as the key factor in studying India’s Medieval Period.

The study of the contact between these culturally diverse traditions initiated a new chapter by the end of the 8th Century CE, with Islam gradually making roots into various quarters of the Indian Sub-continent and leaving behind a significant influence on both the natives and they’re existent.
