  • winds from mediterranean region come to north west part of india.
  • they bring the rainfall in NW states of India.

these winter rains are very useful for rabi crops.

Coastal areas of eastern India -

  • cyclonic disturbances from easterly winds come in action.
  • the NE trade winds which go from land to sea acts differently, as at TN coast it goes from sea to land.
  • this results in rain there.
