We are able to see objects only in the presence of light.

The phenomenon involved is reflection of light.
This is because, only if light is reflected we can see the object.Light from the object enters the eye only if it is reflected. Objects absorb some amount of light.
For example: take an object, say an apple. It is red in colour. Why?     This is because it reflects red light and absorbs the rest.

Therefore, Reflection of light helps us in vision.

Real image:

* It is an inverted image of the object.
* It can be obtained on a screen.
* It is formed on the other side of the object.

Virtual image:

* It is an erect image of the object.
* It cannot be obtained on a screen.
* It is formed on the same side of the object.
