Preparation of Bleaching Power : Chlorine gas is produced during electrolysis of aqueous sodium chloride. This chlorine gas is used for the manufacture of bleaching powder. Bleaching powder is produced by the action of a chlorine on slaked lime.

First of all from the chlor-alkali process ,

sodium hydroxide , hydrogen and chlorine is formed.

When quick lime that is cao reacts with cl in air it forms caocl2 that is bleaching powder.
