If cold, our body produces more warmth by contracting one’s muscles (shivering), and shutting off the blood vessels to the skin thus limiting heat loss, if warm opening up the blood vessels of the skin so it can get rid of more warmth by convection. Sweating evaporating sweat is another effective cooling mechanism.

If the body is too hot, glands under the skin secrete sweat onto the surface of the skin,to increase heat loss by evaporation.Sweat secretion stops when body temperature returns to normal.Blood vessels supplying blood to the skin can swell or dilate called vasodilation.
