There are two types of fats present; brown fat and white adipose in mammals. Being called brown, it is more like red or pink in color reflects it lipid content. The special property of this fat is that it generates heat.

Brown fat is important in animals which hibernate. In spring and summer season it develops in the body of hibernators and then when winter comes, this fat delivers warmth to animals when they hibernate.
