how can a carboxylic acid and alchol can be distinguished on the basis of their chemical property

Carboxylic acid is acidic in nature as it produce H+ ions during dilution whereas Alcohols are neutral as they dont produce OH - ions...

So carboxylic acid turnd blue litmus to red whereas alcohol do not give any effect on litmus...

Alcohols do not react with sodium hydrogen carbonate whereas Carboxylic acid react with sodium hydrogen carbonaye to form a type of Neutralisation reaction in which the products sodium salt ( Sodium ethanoate ) , water and CO2 are formed...
