A SONAR is used to find the depth of a water body. It sends a sound wave into the water body.
It calculates the time taken by it to come back.
Using that time, we can find the depth or the distance travelled by the sound wave as we know the speed of sound in water. We use this formula to do this :-
Distance or Depth = Time/2 × Speed of Sound in Water
