all combustible substances need air for burning
so when CO2 doesn't get enough air it turns into carbon monoxide CO
CO is a polluting gas
also sulphur dioxide changes into sulphur monoxide

Air pollution is mainly caused after the burning of substance like polythene, coal etc.which releases oxides of sulphur, nitrogen and other harmful gases which are acidic in nature..they mix with the rain and give rise to acid rain.
