I am not sure about avoiding smartphones but you can make good use of that. This is how I do it - I read more than 200 books till now. Though most of them are fiction (or love stories from Indian author) but still number is that. I used to buy paperback in my college days. But when I started working and can afford a kindle, I bought one. So first thing you can do is - buy kindle. It comes with around 1000 free books (all are classics). Your kindle gets linked to your amazon account. Then download a kindle app on your phone (smartphone!). Configure the same account in that as your kindle. Now when you’ll read book on kindle that same book will also be available on your phone. You even can start reading (by configuring amazon cloud service) from the page you left on your kindle device. This way you can make yourself and your smart phone more smarter

in my way I am reading books like a with innocent mind because I like to read books in a sequence way what I have to do when I am reading the book I cover the first topic then second topic as the sequence wise topics I have to cover then after covering a one topic I go throwing of it if we want to do something we have the encourage of that thing that we have to do something else only that whatever you are reading just go through it and Concentrate on what should topic you are reading
