The use of social media among students is at an all-time high. Students have successfully managed to integrate social media with each and every aspect of their daily lives. The increasing influence of social media has raised alarm bells as well as giving a boost to overall connectivity among people. Social media is an integral part of today’s society. With loads of information being disseminated over the Internet, it has become the very fabric upon which our society is being built. With youngsters and teenagers being vast consumers of social media, it is reported that teens spend an average of 8 hours online every day. The people who are at the forefront of molding the future such as teens and youngsters spend a staggering amount of time online.
Owning a smartphone in today’s day and age is an extremely common occurrence. As almost everyone has a smartphone with them, it becomes easier to use social networking sites and access the internet. For most students, social media acts as a tool to maintain relations with peers and communicate effectively with them. Since the past decade, social media has been touted as a platform for youngsters to congregate online and interact socially as if they were in person, regardless of their distance from each other. Geographical limitations have been nullified and the traditional way of establishing communication and relations has been overwritten. There are likely teens out there who do not know of many other uses of the Internet other than their favorite social media platform.
