In india the proportion of women in legislature has been,very low.

one way to solve this problem is to make it legally binding to have fair proportion of women in the elected bodies.

This can be seen in panchayati raj where one-third of seats in local government bodies are now reserved for women.

There is a similar proposal for reservation of seats in lok sabha but a bill on this propasal is pending in parliament...
