Hi friend,
Matter is something that occupies space and has mass. Matter have spaces between them. As solids have very less spaces between them and liquids have comparatively more spaces between them and gases are having a lot of space between them.
<>But how can we prove it?
We can by the following activity-
Take a beaker filled with 100ml of water. Then add 1 spoon of sugar. Then let the sugar dissolve. After sometime u will see that the amount of water is same but it should have increased.
<>Why this happened?
When sugar dissolved it is settled in the spaces present present between the liquids.
<>Why in sugar case we see this.... When we add pebbles the volume would have increased. Why it doesn't settle in the spaces between liquids?
This is because pebbles can't dissolve in the water as on the other side sugar dissolves in solution.
Hope it helps.........
