The Simple Pendulum consists of a weight (or bob) on the end of a mass less cord suspended from a pivot, without friction. When given an initial push, it will swing back and forth at a constantamplitude. In short, a simple pendulum is a hypothetical pendulum suspended by a weightless frictionless thread of constant length.
