If you know the frequency of the wave, and the propagation speed through the medium, you can calculate it.

Wavelength equals speed of propagation divided by frequency.

In the case of electromagnetic waves in a vacuum, propogation speed is 300 X 10^6 meters per second. So a frequency of 300 MHz has a wavelength of one meter.
