all organisms need energy to perform various activities and maintain life. this energy is obtained from food by a process called respiration. in animal cells produce chemical energy from degradation of organic compound and in other plants decomposed from photosynthesis process.thus respiration is important biochemical reaction process of oxidation by which food materials are oxidized to produce carbon dioxide, water, and energy.

TWO TYPES OF RESPIRATION:

Aerobic Respiration :

the respiration takes place in the presence of oxygen is called aerobic respiration. majority of animals takes aerobic respiration.

C6H12O6 +6O2 --->6CO2 +6H2O +energy

all organisms obtain this respiration cannot live without oxygen.

Anaerobic Respiration :

the respiration takes place in the absence of oxygen is called anaerobic respiration. this is also known as intramolecular respiration.

Glucose ---->Alcohol + CO2 +Energy
