Solution :

The ratio of the mole fraction of water to mole fraction of metanol = xH2O/xCH3OH

=> xH2O/xCH3OH

=> 0.75/0.25 =3

The number of moles of CH3OH, nCH3OH = 16/32 = 1/2 = 0.5

The number of moles of water, nH2O = 3 × 0.5 = 1.5

Weight of water, mH2O = 1.5 × 18 = 27g

Answer : mH2O = 27g
