by examing the saliva under the microscopic conditions...

Take some boiled potatoes and mash them properly and transfer them into 3 parts. Into the first part add some amount of iodine, the colour changes to blue indicating the presence of starch into it. Then to the second part add some saliva, mix it properly and then add iodine to it, no colour change will be observed as salivary amylase present in saliva has already break down the starch present in the potato. Keep the third part as a control.with this method you can confirm that saliva has starch in it
